SMV (Standard Minute Value) Calculation
SMV is the amount of time required for a qualified worker should spend to complete a specified task.
SMV Formula
SMV=(Observe time×Rating)+(Observe time×rating)×Allowance
Example
Observe Time: 20 Seconds
Rating: 90%
Allowance: 15%
At fast we need to convert our Observe time Seconds to Minute Observe Time: 20/60=0.33 Min
Now
SMV=(Observe time×Rating)+(Observe time×Rating)×Allowance
=(0.33×90%)+(0.33×90%)×15%
=0.34 SMV
Answer: SMV 0.34
Efficiency Calculation
Profitability depends largely on the efficiency of workers and overall the factory. So this has a great impact on earnings.
Efficiency Formula
Efficiency= 〈Output×SMV〉÷〈Manpower×Working Hour×60〉×100
Example
Output: 2700
SMV: 4.95
Manpower: 25
Working Hours: 11
Now
Efficiency= 〈Output×SMV〉÷〈Manpower×Working Hour×60〉×100
Efficiency= 〈2700×4.95〉÷〈25×11×60〉×100
Efficiency=13365÷16500×100
Efficiency= 81%
Answer: Efficiency 81%
Line Capacity Calculation
The Line capacity refers to the amount of pieces that Line is expected to produce.
Line Capacity Formula
Line Capacity: Manpower×Working Time(Minute)×Target Efficiency÷SMV
Example
Manpower: 25
Working Hours: 11 Hours (11×60)=660 Minute
Target Efficiency: 81%
SMV: 4.95
Now
Line Capacity: Manpower×Working Time(Minute )×Target Efficiency÷SMV
Line Capacity: 25×660×81%÷4.95
Line Capacity: 2700 Pcs
Answer: Line Target/Capacity 2700 Pcs
Operator Capacity Calculation
Operator capacity refers to the amount of pieces that an operator is expected to produce.
Operator Capacity Formula 1
Operator Capacity: 3600 (Working Time in Second)÷Avg Cycle Time In Second + Allowance
Example 1
Average Cycle Time: 42 seconds
Allowance: 15%
Now
Operator Capacity: 3600÷42 Sec+15%
Operator Capacity: 75 Pcs
Answer: Operator Capacity 75 Pcs Only
Operator Capacity Formula 2
Operator Capacity: 60 SMV
Example
Operation SMV: 0.80
Now
Operator Capacity: 60÷0.80
Operator Capacity: 75 Pcs
Answer: Operator Capacity 75 Pcs Only
Line Balancing Calculation
Line Balancing is leveling the workload across all operations in a line to remove bottlenecks and excess capacity.
Line Balancing Formula
Line Balancing: 〈Lowest Capacity(Bottleneck Process)×SMV〉÷〈Manpower×60〉×100
Example
Lowest Capacity: 220 Pcs
SMV: 5.80
Manpower: 25
Now
Line Balancing: 〈Lowest Capacity(Bottleneck Process)×SMV〉÷〈Manpower×60〉×100
Line Balancing:〈220)×5.80〉÷〈25×60〉×100
Line Balancing: 85%
Answer: Line Balancing 85%
